Mexico City. Definitely one of my favorite weekends this year.
One week after our trip to Zacatecas, Andrea, her boyfriend Roy, my cousin Ray, my love Ricardo and I went on a road trip to Mexico City. Our first stop was Starbucks, our second a hostel. We were lucky to find a hostel with a 6 bed mixed room available and were able to get it all to ourselves.
We arrived on a Saturday, so after settling in, we went exploring in the big city. We walked a lot. And at some point, it started to rain. So we walked a lot in the rain. We walked mostly down the main boulevard, Paseo Reforma, all the way from El Ángel de la Independencia to Bellas Artes (where we couldn't take the rain any longer and hopped on a train back to the hostel). Despite our soked clothes and squeaky shoes, we had a wonderful time. When we got back to the hostel, we showered, slipped on our pjs and watched an episode of Modern Family while drinking wine and eating pizza. Best way to end any day.
On Sunday we decided to go to the Castillo de Chapultepec, since Ray had never been and really wanted to visit it. The Castle is amazing, full of history and antiques, with breathtaking views of the city to top it all off. We were there for a couple of hours and then it started to rain again, not much, but we weren't in the mood to drive four hours in a cramped car all soaked. So we left the Castillo and Ray, Andrea and Roy headed over to the Museum of Modern Art. Ricardo and I went back to the car because we were tired and he had injured his foot the previous day. When the others joined us in the car, we headed to a burger joint to eat, then Starbucks for a drink, a Ghandi bookstore for some mind fuel and then we all headed on home.
